Ceili Winter ’23 Release Notes
26.9.2022
Here is a traditional Ceili’s summary of the upcoming new features and changes in Salesforce’s Winter ’23 release, which will be published in October. Salesforce releases an update package three times a year, which contain major and minor reforms. On this page, we have collected the most important updates that may have an impact on your organization’s Salesforce operation, in a compact package.
The blog post briefly introduces each feature in its own paragraph, which also lists the concrete benefits customers will receive and the necessary measures, if there are any in the reform. We are happy to help if you need support in implementing new features. You can contact e.g. support@ceili.fi
You can easily find the exact time when Salesforce will install the Winter ’23 Release in your own organization at: status.salesforce.com (Maintenance tab). You can display the information by entering, for example, the instance number of your Salesforce organization in the search field, which you can find in Salesforce in your company’s information.

Updates for end users
Get Help from the Guidance Center
The Guidance Center was previously known as the Learning Path and it provides users easily accessible links to, for example, Salesforce documentation and/or Trailhead learning environment modules.

(Screenshot: Ceili)
Benefits:
Provides easy access to Salesforce documentation and/or the Trailhead learning environment.
Available:
Available in Lightning Experience Developer, Professional, Enterprise, Performance and Unlimited -versions.
Review a Custom Report Type’s Structure During Report Creation
You can now see the structure of a custom report type when creating a report. You can see the relationships of the objects included in the report type and how they are connected. For example, a contact person may or may not have related cases.

Available:
Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Developer -versions
Benefits:
The feature makes it easier to choose the right report type.
Required measures and other considerations:
Create a report and select a custom report type. View the details of the report type.
Filter Custom Report Types by Salesforce Fields (Beta)
You can make report creation more efficient by searching for custom report types based on desired standard or custom fields. You can filter report types using up to 20 fields to ensure that the report type contains the fields you want.

Available:
Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Developer -versions
Benefits:
When choosing a report type, you can make sure that the report type contains all the necessary fields whose information is desired for the report.
Required measures and other considerations:
The feature is in Beta version and can be used at your own discretion. The feature can be activated by contacting Salesforce Support.
Be Ready for Multi-Factor Authentication Auto-Enablement
As we have previously announced, Salesforce’s contractual requirement to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) when logging into Salesforce came into effect on February 1, 2022. All users must have MFA enabled when logging in to Salesforce, even if the system does not yet require it when logging in. In the spring of 2023, Salesforce will activate the MFA requirement for systems with less than 100 active users. Mandatory for other systems will be activated in autumn 2023.
Available:
Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic and all Salesforce mobile applications in all versions
Required measures and other considerations:
Activating MFA for users who do not yet have it enabled.
Updates for admins
Enhance More Object Record Pages With Dynamic Forms
Dynamic forms (page layouts) were previously only available for custom objects, but with this release it is also possible to use them with the following standard objects: Account, Person Account, Contact and Opportunity.
Benefits:
As the use of dynamic forms also expands to the mentioned standard objects, the Salesforce user experience becomes more consistent, as most page layouts work on the same basic principle.
With the help of dynamic forms, it is possible to regulate, for example, the visibility of entire sections (Sections) or, for example, to set the visibility of a certain field to depend on the value of another field (Example: The Invoice Details field is displayed when the checkbox ‘Invoice Checked’ has the value TRUE).

Screenshot: Ceili
Required measures and other considerations:
Dynamic forms can be enabled by navigating to the Lightning App Builder from the “Edit Page” section of the record page.
Available:
Lightning Experienceen Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Developer versions.
Do More with Dynamic Related List Filters
When filtering dynamic Related lists, you can now use more selection list values. For example, you can display all opportunities whose stage is Offer or Negotiation in a dynamic Related list on the contact person’s page. Previously, filtering was only possible according to the selection list.
Available:
Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Developer -versions
Benefits:
The information in dynamic Related lists can be narrowed down more precisely.
Required measures and other considerations:
Admin can edit the dynamic Related lists of the record page in Lightning App Builder.
Direct Cases to Qualified Agents with Omni-Channel Flows
With the Flow tool, it will be possible in the future to create Omni-Channel automation, with which Cases that come in via e-mail can be directed directly to the right people for processing.
Benefits:
When the customer sends an e-mail to the specified e-mail address, the Email-to-Case functionality automatically creates a new Case in Salesforce, and then Flow directs that Case to the appropriate Omni-Channel queue or directly to the handler. If, for some reason, Flow cannot determine which queue the Case should be placed in, it directs that Case to the so-called “backup” queue.
Example Flow:

Required measures and other considerations:
Requires the implementation of the Email-to-Case functionality, the configuration of the Omni-Channel tool and the creation of the Omni-Channel Flow in Setup.
Available:
Lightning Experience Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited and Developer-versions.
Create Custom Address Fields (Generally Available)
The custom address field that came as a Beta version in the Summer ’22 Release is now available in all Salesforce organizations. In the past, several separate fields had to be created for the custom address field, e.g. for the street address and postal code. This can now be done on one field.
Benefits:
Custom and standard address fields will work on the same principle in the future and look the same to the user.
Required measures and other considerations:
The Salesforce admin must activate the custom address field in Setup: User Interface – Use custom address fields
Available:
In all versions of Salesforce that use the Salesforce Lightning interface.

Enhanged Domains
Enhanced Domains are the latest version of the My Domain feature. The latest browser requirements prevent the use of third-party cookies, which Salesforce has previously used to function. Enhanced domains meet the latest browser requirements to keep using Salesforce seamless.
More information: Why enhanged Domains?
Effects
With the improved domains, the web addresses of the Salesforce environment will change. The structure of the web addresses will be unified with the improved domains. Improved domains may affect the operation of integrations, rights to view shared files, access to Experience Cloud sites, etc. Detailed information about the changes can be found here.
When?
Enhanced Domains will be available in all Salesforce environments starting with the Spring ’23 Release. In sandbox environments, the improved domains will be available from the Winter ’23 Release.
Required measures and other considerations:
The operation of the improved domains should be tested in a Sandbox environment before the Winter ’23 Release. In testing, it is good to ensure the operation of all features that depend on the web address of the Salesforce environment. If you want Ceili to carry out testing and implementation of improved domains for you, contact support@ceili.fi
Updates in Pardot (Marketing Cloud Account Engagement)
Pardot identifies prospects exhibiting bot-like behavior
To ensure content quality, Pardot can stop activity from tracking prospects that show an unreasonable amount of activity. When the monitoring of the prospect’s activities has been stopped, an icon appears in the list view and an error is displayed in the prospect’s data. Activity tracking will only be stopped if it affects Pardot’s functionality. Prospects whose tracking has been suspended can still receive marketing content.
Available:
All Pardot versions
Benefits:
A prospect that accumulates thousands of activities within a short period of time can affect Pardot’s ability to function, and in a similar case it can be almost certain that the activity is produced by a bot. With the help of this feature, it is possible to identify the cases in question effectively.
Required measures and other considerations:
No required measures.
Access to Pardot only with its own permission set
Pardot users who do not need full access to Salesforce can now assign an Account Engagement User permission set. This gives the user access to most of Pardot’s features, without full access to Salesforce campaigns.
Available:
Pardot for versions purchased or updated after 2/12/2019
Benefits:
This allows a user to be granted access to Pardot without full access to Salesforce.
Required measures and other considerations:
No required measures.
Pardot Classic App is retiring
The use of the old version of Pardot (Classic App) has been announced to be withdrawn from 17.10.2022. The old version was logged in from pi.pardot.com, while the new Lightning user interface opens directly through Salesforce (login.salesforce.com). The new user interface has certainly been used by everyone for quite some time, so the withdrawal of the Classic version does not affect daily life.
Pardot’s more technical updates
Pardot’s more technical innovations include so-called External Actions, which refers to using services outside of Salesforce and third-party solutions together with Pardot. For example, registering participants for webinars held on Zoom and sending text messages from Salesforce in connection with webinar reminders is now more convenient.
